The 3-Minute Ergonomic Chair Calibration

A step-by-step visual calibration checklist to eliminate perineal compression and support optimal pelvic alignment.

The 3-Minute Ergonomic Chair Calibration

Why Default Chair Settings Cause Tension

Most office chairs arrive out of the box with the seat pan parallel to the floor and the backrest too far back. This encourages a rounded, slumped posture that directs your entire upper body weight onto your perineum.

3 Steps to Calibrate Your Chair

  1. Seat Height: Adjust your cylinder so your feet rest flat on the floor with your thighs angled slightly downward (knees below hips at 100โ€“110 degrees).
  2. Seat Pan Tilt: If your chair has forward tilt, activate a 3-to-5 degree downward slope to encourage natural lumbar lordosis and anterior pelvic alignment.
  3. Armrest Support: Lower or adjust armrests so your shoulders remain relaxed and your forearms rest naturally without elevating your trapezius muscles.
